Rest & Reset

I have always embraced the winter season. For most of us in the plant business, Winter is a great time to reset and recharge the batteries. We work at such a frenzied pace during the rest of the year, that I really appreciate the quiet and slowness this time brings. It’s also a time of reflection for us, as we look back on the previous year and examine what worked and what didn’t. It’s also a time of planning. Truth be told, ordering plants and seeds is one of the most difficult tasks in this business, especially if you’re small or on a limited budget, like us. It’s a crap shoot to try and guess what people will want to buy and grow from season to season. I’m not really a trend follower as far as plants go, so I try to have things in stock that are relatively affordable and easy to grow. I really like the challenge of selling folks on new plants too! It’s a great opportunity for me to pass on years of practical knowledge and expertise and help make you the best possible gardener! Anyhow, that’s where we’re at right now. We have limited our hours as well for the month of January. We are only open on Saturdays & Sundays until February. I have a great little collection of Valentine themed plants and floral art for sale in the farm shop right now and of course, dried flowers are always a hit this time of year if you’re in need of some color before Spring. My Hellebore preorder will be returning at the end of the month, so stay tuned for that. I’m narrowing down the choices, but don’t fret, I will also have a nice selection of Gallon and Quart plants from one of my local suppliers. Always so excited for Hellebore Season! I think they show up right when they are most needed, just shy of the Cabin fever breaking point! And the color palette is my absolute favorite! I hope you all out there are embracing the small joys that can be found in this season! Talk Soon!
