Our Story: The Evolution of Cedar Farm & Nursery

From an early age, Jennifer & David both always had an interest in nature and gardening. Growing up in Florida, David was surrounded by lush tropical plants and botanical gardens. Meanwhile, Jennifer began growing vegetables and flowers from seed at an early age, just as her family before her. The pair grew up a thousand miles away from each other, but serendipity has a way of bringing people together. In 2004, their paths crossed. Jennifer was hired as Nursery Manager/ Horticulturist at a local Garden Center, where David was working as a Landscape Foreman. Shortly after, they began building a life and a new dream together.

A Twenty Year Vision

Cedar Farm & Nursery is the culmination of more than two decades of professional and personal transformation . After many years in the green industry, we have realized a long held dream: to establish a specialty nursery defined by high level design, personal customer service and expert plant curation.

Restoration & Transformation

December 2022, clean up began. Derelict structures and invasive, overgrown vegetation was cleared to reclaim the land. The existing barn was restored-a concrete foundation was added, repairs to the structure were made and a new roof was installed. Display gardens began taking shape, growing fields for our dried flowers and Winterberry programs were added. A restroom for staff and customers was added, along with the drying barn/farm shop.

A Design & Horticultural Hub

Cedar Farm & Nursery serves as headquarters for 2 complementary businesses.

River Rock Landscape, LLC: In Spring 2023, David and mentor, ALan Miller moved the landscape design and construction firm to the property. The farm/nursery acts as a living portfolio of their craftsmanship.

Cedar Farm & Nursery: In Fall 2024, Jennifer transitioned her botanical boutique Muhly & Cedar to the farm. Now rebranded, the nursery offers a specialized retail experience for plant enthusiasts of all skill levels

A Destination in York County

Cedar Farm & Nursery is a comprehensive resource for the gardening community. By combining a small, specialty nursery with full scale landscape design-build services, they offer an immersive destination for those seeking professional consultation, unique botanical finds, and a bit of calm in a chaotic world. We invite you to take a scenic drive out to the country and linger in our pastoral setting.
